Established in 2021, Highbet is one of the new kids on the UK betting scene

Pros
  • Superb football coverage and odds
  • Huge variety of esports events and entertainment markets offered
  • Cool and modern website design
  • Quick and efficient customer service
Cons
  • Lack of promotions and sub-par welcome offer
  • Depositing fees

Registration Process

  • Two-step process
  • Basic information required

Creating an account with Highbet is a simple two-step process in which new customers merely need to give out basic information. To begin, note your email address before creating a username and password.

Click the ‘NEXT’ icon to advance. In step two, you’re required to provide your name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile phone number and preferred currency.

This is where you can apply any bonus codes you might’ve got a hold of. Once that’s all done, decide whether you want to be notified about any bonus offers before ticking the terms and conditions.

A click of the ‘OPEN ACCOUNT’ icon will kickstart your Highbet journey. The bookmaker does ask you to verify your account, but you’re still able to deposit funds and access the entire sportsbook if you’re unverified.

Deposits & Withdrawal Options

  • Several payment options
  • Depositing fees
  • Lengthy withdrawal times for debit cards
  • Easy depositing and withdrawing processes

There are several payment options available for customers. With Highbet, UK customers can make deposits via debit card (Visa and Mastercard), PayPal, bank transfer (instant banking) Trustly, MuchBetter and paysafecard.

The minimum deposit for each of these methods is £10, while information regarding maximum deposits wasn’t accessible. 2.5% fees are also included with Highbet deposits, which is a downer.

The withdrawal time with each method varies. For example, customers can expect to receive their funds within six days with a debit card, two days with PayPal and MuchBetter, and four days with Trustly. You should receive your funds between two to six days if you’re withdrawing via instant banking.

Depositing Funds

To kick-start the depositing process, click the yellow ‘Deposit’ icon located in the top left-hand corner of the homepage. You’ll then see the image captured above of the list of Highbet’s payment options available to UK customers.

We opted to deposit via debit card and all we had to do was fill out the card information that’s almost always required. Thus, we had to list the name on our card, card number, expiry date and security code.

Highbet then provides three default deposit options (£25, £40 and £50), but we deposited the minimum £10 – typing this figure into the ‘Amount’ bar. As you can see, a 2.5% fee was added to our deposit, meaning we were charged £10.25 altogether.

A click of the yellow ‘DEPOSIT’ icon should conclude the process.

Highbet then confirmed our successful deposit via the above receipt.

Withdrawing Winnings

The yellow bar ubiquitous on the left-hand side of the homepage denotes your Highbet balance, and we wished to withdraw these funds. To do so, we clicked ‘My Profile’. That opened up the below screen.

To withdraw, click the blue ‘cashout’ bar located underneath ‘Deposit’.

Then, all we had to do was confirm our cashout method and amount. However, we were only allowed to withdraw £11, meaning £0.30 was still left in our Highbet account. By requesting ‘Cashout’, the process should conclude.

The above screen depicts the bookmaker receiving our withdrawal request, and the funds arrived in our account the following day.

Welcome Offer

Highbet boasts a rare welcome offer in that new customers are rewarded with less than their initial deposit. There’s little value in their ‘Bet £15 Get £10’ promotion.

Punters will receive a £10 ‘Free Bet Token’ after they stake their first £15 on Highbet’s sportsbook. To ensure you’re eligible for this offer, all qualifying bets must be placed at 1/1 odds or greater, while deposits cannot be made via PayPal or paysafecard.

This qualifying bet must be settled within 14 days of its placement.

Customer can use their token on any sports market with 4/5 odds or greater. The Free Bet Token expires after 14 days of it arriving into your account.

Pre-Match Offer

  • 28 sports make up the sportsbook
  • Great odds and football coverage
  • Simple betting process
  • Cash-out but no Bet Builder

28 sports make up Highbet’s sportsbook with the bookmaker currently covering the 2022 Winter Olympics with impressive depth. Punters can bet on leagues, events and competitions from across the globe with this bookmaker.

Highbet’s football coverage is sound for the most part and there are almost 1,500 football events available to bet on at the time of writing, with the most popular fixtures boasting over 250 markets. There are no pre-match statistics accessible, though – these only appear in-play.

However, Highbet’s sufficient football coverage would be undermined should their odds not be competitive.

To measure the quality of Highbet’s margins we used the odds overround. The overround is a calculation that combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should add up to 100% – however, this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.

We picked three games at random from the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Championship that returned margins of 104.60%, 107.74% and 104.75% respectively. Thus, Highbet’s margins are both consistent and fair.

Punters can display their odds as fractions, decimals or American. The minimum stake is 8p while the maximum stake is bet dependent.

Placing a Bet

After exploring Highbet’s sportsbook, we fancied placing a bet on the football. The image above shows a long list of the countries that boast leagues covered by the bookmaker. Keeping it close to home, we opted to select England and, more specifically, the Premier League.

After clicking the England tab followed by the Premier League box, all the league’s upcoming matches then appeared in the centre of the homepage – ordered by date. As you can see, we’re hovering over the Manchester City vs Brentford game with the hosts being favourites to win the match (a massive 13/100).

We decided that this was the bet we wanted to place and by clicking the 13/100 odds, this bet went straight into our bet slip located on the right-hand side of the page. Our bet slip is shown below.

To complete the process, we confirmed our stake (£10) before clicking the yellow (it turns white when you hover over it) ‘Place Bets!’ icon. Once clicked, Highbet will then process and authorise our bet.

This was completed in a matter of seconds and the confirmation of our bet can be seen below.

Esports

Highbet’s esports coverage is broad. A multitude of games are offered, including FIFA, NBA, NHL, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Starcraft 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Rocket League and Call of Duty. However, only a few of these games currently have listed events that are available to bet on.

Despite the broad range of esports games offered by Highbet, the markets offered are very basic. In fact, for the vast majority of events, you can only bet on the match winner.

Be sure to check out our esports betting tips if you want to improve your chances of winning at esports betting.

Other Specials

For those who enjoy an entertainment punt, Highbet has several markets open in this regard. Both the 2022 Oscars and BAFTAs are covered thoroughly, with the markets covered including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director. You can also bet on who’ll win the Best Supporting Actor & Actress awards at the BAFTAs.

If you’ve also found yourself binge-watching the Brazilian version of Big Brother, then why not have a punt on it! Highbet offers a winner market for the show.

Their political coverage is limited to the next US and Brazilian Presidential elections.

Cash-Out & Bet Builder

You can take full control of your bets with Highbet’s Cash-Out or Partial Cash-Out features. Punters, however, aren’t able to access a Bet Builder feature to spice up their bets.

Live Offer

  • No live streaming service
  • Neat features that enhance experience
  • Sufficient coverage

Highbet’s live coverage is easily accessible via the in-play tab shown in yellow in the above image. Overall, we were impressed with their live coverage.

There were over 100 in-play markets for the most popular live football even at the time of writing, with Highbet providing several neat features to enhance the live experience for customers. The bookie’s live coverage is provided by Stats Score and punters can view a match tracker with second-by-second updates, basic statistics, head-to-head records, starting XI’s and league tables. Injuries and key events are also noted.

A multitude of live events are available at any one time across various sports.

Unfortunately, there is no live streaming service to enjoy.

Security

  • Licensed and regulated by UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority
  • Strong responsible gambling emphasis
  • Several available account restrictions

Highbet is operated by Aspire Global International Ltd, who, in turn, are licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority. For their UK operations, games are provided by AG Communications, licensed and regulated by the

The bookmaker’s emphasis on responsible gambling is strong. A dedicated page can be accessed via a link at the bottom of the homepage. This page provides information on the protection of minors, and how to prevent and manage compulsive gambling.

External links for two websites are also provided at the bottom of the homepage, while a list of organisations that can help with your gambling are listed in the bookmaker’s responsible gambling section.

14 self-assessment questions are supplied to help potential problem gamblers gauge just how much of an issue their gambling is or could soon become.

To prevent potential addiction, Highbet has several account restrictions for customers to set when they feel it’s necessary. These restrictions include Deposit Limits, a Reality Check, Time-Outs and Self-Exclusion.

Highbet’s Privacy Policy is also available to view via a link accessible at the bottom of the homepage.

Service & Customer Support

  • FAQs hidden but rigorous
  • Quick and efficient customer service
  • Not 24/7

It initially appeared that Highbet didn’t boast a FAQs section of any kind, so we contacted customer support right away. To do so, we accessed the small chat icon located in the bottom-right corner of the page. The below image will appear, which shows that you can contact the bookmaker via live chat or email. The Highbet support team is available every day between 08:00 and 00:00 CET (07:00 and 23:00 BST).

We opted to test Highbet’s live chat function, which then revealed the bookmaker’s previously- unseen FAQs section. Common queries are divided into ten sections, with categories including Privacy, Bonuses, Deposits and Withdrawals.

Nevertheless, we still went ahead with trying to contact Highbet via live chat. Our session began by clicking ‘Customer Support’ shown in the above image.

We asked whether Highbet currently offered a VIP or loyalty programme for its customers. Their response was swift: a simple no.

They then kindly asked whether there was anything else they could help us with. There wasn’t, so our session was brought to a close. Nevertheless, our experience with Highbet’s customer service was quick and efficient – which is all you want.

Design & Usability

  • Modern aesthetic
  • Messy structure in places
  • Teething technical issues

We appreciated the aesthetic of Highbet’s website. It looks slickcool and modern with a blue, white and yellow colour scheme followed throughout.

However, that’s as good as it gets in this regard. There were a few technical faults with the site including lag and a delayed response time. Moreover, we have to question the display of the prominent markets relating to football odds.

As the above image shows, it’s very messy with the bookie trying to fit several markets into a couple of rows. In order to get a more structured viewing, we had to filter what odds and markets we wanted to be displayed. This makes it a lot clearer.

Events, markets and odds dominate the centre of the page, while a list of Highbet’s different products is located on the left-hand side. Just inside of that is the sub-category menu, e.g. sportsbook, with your bet slip ubiquitous on the right-hand side. This aids and fasten

Other Products

Highbet is primarily a casino that offers a sportsbook. Thus, you’d expect its casino product to be of the highest quality.

With over 1,000 casino games to choose from, Highbet certainly boast quantity, and their live casino offering is impressive. Punters can play a multitude of live games, including roulette, blackjack and baccarat.

However, they are lacking on the promotions front once more. These offers and bonuses massively enhance a casino product, but Highbet only offers a welcome bonus for new customers.

This offer is a 100% bonus on all first deposits between £20 and £50, as well as 50 free spins on a selected casino game. The bonus and spins are credited immediately after your maiden deposit.

Final Say

Considering its recent inception, Highbet shows plenty of promise, and a few additions and subtractions would certainly make it a more intriguing proposition for punters. While Highbet emphasises upon its casino, more effort has to be made on the promotion front to entice new customers and, more importantly, retain their interests.

Overall, however, Highbet boasts an impressive sportsbook with odds that can compete with the very best in the industry. We loved the website design, but the structure and functionality of the site need work, with such issues being expected in the primitive stages of its emergence.

Highbet’s a promising product for sure, but teething issues must be fixed before we recommend this bookmaker to punters.
